This Edwardian sterling silver trinket box or casket comes from the workshop of Mappin & Webb in London, dating to 1901. The object takes the form of a square, pyramid-shaped body with a hinged lid, finished in a bright silver tone. The lid features a detailed camel finial perched centrally amid four raised, rounded tear-drop motifs, while the sides display repousse palm trees, a chased desert scene with a figure, and a crown with sceptres on the right-hand panel. Small bruises mark the metal body as signs of past handling. The piece measures 5.7 cm high, 12.7 cm wide, and 10.8 cm deep. Suitable for use in a home office or library, the box sits neatly upon an office desk to hold small personal items, cufflinks, or desk accessories. The hinged lid lifts for access to the interior compartment, keeping contents secure when closed. The compact proportions allow placement on side tables, dressers, or mantelpieces within traditional or period interior schemes.

Regimental silver refers to silver objects commissioned by, presented to, or associated with military units, often featuring official crests, campaign relief scenes, or symbolic figures.

They were crafted from sterling silver using techniques such as repousse hammering, relief chasing, and lost-wax casting for decorative lid finials and side panels.

Authentic British pieces bear official hallmark stamps indicating silver purity, the assay office mark, a date letter, and a registered makers mark such as Mappin & Webb.

Place the casket on an executive office desk, sideboard top, or library bookshelf to serve as a decorative focal object and practical container for small items.

Dust regularly with a soft cotton cloth and apply non-abrasive silver polish occasionally, avoiding heavy rubbing over raised repousse details to preserve definition.
