1.00ct Peridot 0.75ct Amethyst Seed Pearl 18ct Yellow Gold Pendant Circa 1910

1900 - 1920
For Sale by AC Silver
Description

A stunning, fine and impressive antique Edwardian 1.00 carat peridot, 0.75 carat amethyst and seed pearl, 18 carat yellow gold circular pendant; part of our diverse antique jewellery and estate jewelry collections.

This stunning, fine and impressive antique Edwardian pendant with pearls has been crafted in 18ct yellow gold.

The pierced decorated, circular frame displays a feature delicate trefoil floral motif, comprised of collet set heart cut peridots and collet set heart cut amethysts*.

Each motif bears a seed pearl to the centre and along the curvilinear stem, in addition to a central seed-pearl decorated rosette*.

The circular pendant is further ornamented with a linear vertical gold grillwork, allowing the floral central motifs an ethereal floating quality.

The pendant is framed with a seed-pearl decorated border, completing the design.

The antique pendant suspends from a 9ct yellow gold 18.5' chain via a tapering bale to the upper border, embellished with a further three pavé set seed pearls.

This antique gemstone pendant has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 18 carat gold with a 9 carat gold chain.

The pendant is supplied with an IDGL diamond grading report card.

This Edwardian amethyst, peridot and pearl pendant makes a beautifully romantic gift for someone who appreciates colourful gemstones and the delicate elegance of antique jewellery. The combination of rich purple amethyst, fresh green peridot and lustrous pearls creates a distinctive contrast, enhanced by the graceful craftsmanship associated with the Edwardian era. With amethyst and peridot also serving as the February and August birthstones, the pendant is particularly meaningful for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, Mother's Day or celebrations connecting loved ones with these birth months.

NOTE: * This floral design utilises the iconic Edwardian tricolour combination, a symbolic aesthetic strongly linked to the Votes for Women movement and the suffragette jewellery colour pallet, with green (peridot) for hope, white (pearls) for purity, and violet (amethyst) for Dignity.

Images do not always reflect the true colour and brilliance of gemstones and diamonds. The video however provides a truer representation of the actual colour and showcases each stone.

Condition

This antique pendant is excellent quality, set with an impressive peridots and amethysts displaying fine colour, brilliance and presence.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine circular amethyst peridot pearl pendant.

This Edwardian pendant dates from 1910 and belongs to the Edwardian style. Fashioned from 18ct yellow gold, the circular openwork piece features a seed pearl border, vertical grillwork, a central seed pearl cluster, and two trefoil motifs set with green peridots and purple amethysts. A tapering bale embellished with pavé set seed pearls suspends the object from a chain. The item measures 0.614 cm high, 3.9 cm wide, and 52.09 cm deep. In a contemporary home, an individual wears this piece as a personal accessory to adorn clothing during formal occasions, social gatherings, or everyday wear. The yellow gold material provides a warm metallic tone, while the peridots and amethysts introduce green and purple highlights alongside white pearls.

Edwardian jewellery, produced roughly between 1901 and 1915, is known for light, lace-like openwork, delicate gemstone setting, and motifs such as garlands, ribbons, and trefoils. The era frequently incorporated high-purity yellow gold, platinum, seed pearls, and vibrant gemstones.

Late Edwardian pendants commonly utilized 15ct or 18ct yellow gold alongside platinum mounts. Popular gemstones included peridot, amethyst, diamonds, and seed pearls, often selected for their symbolic colour combinations.

Authentic pieces from this period often display the distinctive green, white, and violet colour palette achieved using peridot, seed pearls or diamonds, and amethyst. They feature hand-cut gemstones, fine millgrain edges, and period gold hallmark stamps.

Fine antique jewellery can be styled decoratively within a home by displaying it on a marble vanity tray, inside a glass display cloche, or mounted within a velvet-lined shadow box frame.

Clean gently using a soft, dry lint-free cloth. Avoid immersing seed pearls or delicate gemstones like peridot in water or harsh chemical cleaners, and store the piece separately in a fabric-lined box to prevent scratching.
