This Queen Anne style bureau cabinet originates from around 1900 and is constructed from solid oak with walnut veneers, burr walnut panels, glass and brass. The warm brown piece measures 207 cm high, 94 cm wide and 51 cm deep. It has a double-domed pediment with a deep moulded and crossbanded cornice, twin arched doors set with original bevelled mirror panels, and two candle slides positioned just below. The exterior displays symmetrically arranged veneers with inlaid feather banding on the fall front and drawer faces. The lower section incorporates a slant-front writing slope above two short and three long graduated drawers, fitted with matching brass handles and key escutcheons. The cabinet is raised on bracket feet at the front and sides. The mirrored doors, polished timber surfaces and brass hardware create a traditional formal aesthetic suited to a gentleman's library or a study in a home today.

A Queen Anne style bureau cabinet is a two-part writing desk and storage unit originating from the early eighteenth-century English aesthetic. It characteristically features figure-matched walnut veneers, double-domed upper pediments, mirrored or glazed cupboard doors, and a sloping fall-front desk section.

These cabinets were predominantly crafted using native walnut and figured burr walnut veneers over oak or pine carcases. Secondary features often included silvered plate glass mirrors, brass drop handles, brass escutcheons, and candle slides positioned below the cabinet doors.

Authentic period and revival pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints on drawer linings, oak or pine secondary woods, bevelled glass panels, and original lock mechanisms. The presence of figure-matched veneer patterns, such as feather banding or crossbanding along drawer borders, also signifies traditional craftsmanship.

Place the piece as a focal focal point against a neutral accent wall in a home office, library, or living room. The fall-front slant desk can be left open to reveal internal pigeonholes alongside modern stationary, bridging historical wood tones with contemporary decor.

Keep the wood away from direct sunlight, central heating radiators, and damp conditions to prevent veneer lifting or fading. Clean surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish annually, buffing gently along the natural grain.
