Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 1930 Art Deco wall light torchiere operates as a wall sconce, formed from amber flame-shaped moulded glass, a yellow fluted stem, and a curved support arm in brass. The amber gold colourway combines with exposed hardware screws, a stepped fitting, and bare electrical wire tails projecting from the mounting bracket. Measuring 34 cm high, 12 cm wide, and 21 cm deep, the piece mounts directly onto vertical surfaces. Today, homeowners position this wall sconce in a narrow wall space, hallway, or living area to provide functional illumination alongside period decorative character. The design uses standard interior electrical wiring connections for straightforward wall installation.

FAQs

Art Deco torch-style sconces feature geometric forms and stylised motifs inspired by classical torches and flames, popularised during the 1920s and 1930s.

These light fixtures typically feature brass or chrome mountings paired with frosted, moulded, or coloured glass shades, often incorporating early synthetic materials like Bakelite.

Authentic period pieces generally exhibit cast brass or copper-alloy fittings, original mounting arms, heavy moulded or press-blown glass, and maker marks or registration stamps near the backplate.

Position these wall lights flanking a hallway mirror, artwork, or chimneypiece to create a balanced focal point that complements both period features and contemporary interior schemes.

Dust the glass shade regularly with a microfibre cloth, washing gently with warm soapy water if necessary, and wipe metal elements using a dry cloth without abrasive chemicals to preserve original patination.
