This Edwardian sterling silver trinket dish, hallmarked in Sheffield in 1903 by Thomas Bradbury & Sons Ltd, exhibits a bright silver colour with a polished finish across its flat central well. The shallow circular bowl features an embossed floral and foliate border with pierced geometric cut-outs along the flared rim. Measuring 10.5 cm in width across the centre and 2.5 cm in height, the piece weighs 62.6 grams. It is suited for placement on a bedside table to hold small items such as rings, cufflinks, or loose change, bringing a touch of traditional English country house style to daily use.

Produced during the reign of King Edward VII between 1901 and 1910, these small silver dishes were designed to serve sweetmeats, nuts, or small confections during formal tea or dinner service.

They were crafted from sterling silver, an alloy containing 92.5 per cent pure silver and 7.5 per cent copper for strength, often featuring machine-pierced or hand-embossed repousse borders.

Authentic British pieces bear official assay office marks, including the crown for Sheffield, the lion passant for sterling silver, a date letter for 1903, and a registered makers mark such as Thomas Bradbury & Sons.

Small silver dishes serve as functional accent pieces on entry console tables for holding keys, on dressing tables as jewellery catchalls, or layered atop books on a coffee table.

Clean gently with a specialised silver polishing cloth or mild soapy water, avoiding abrasive powders or chemical dips that can strip deliberate patination from recessed details.
