Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This mid-Victorian breakfront open bookcase dates from 1860 and is constructed from figured and burr walnut with a mellow brown colour and visible timber grain. The structure comprises three sections with an architectural cornice above a frieze, rounded pilasters dividing the bays, five adjustable shelves per section, and an enclosed breakfront plinth base at the bottom. The central section is deeper than the flanking ones, and the shelves are filled with rows of antiquarian books with varied spine designs and muted leather and paper tones. Measuring 206 cm high, 214 cm wide, and 44 cm deep, the unit provides extensive open storage. In a contemporary home, this large bookcase works well in a study, library, or drawing room to house a substantial book collection. The classic architectural lines and warm walnut timber suit traditional and transitional interior schemes, while the open shelves allow for easy access and display of volumes alongside decorative objects. Placed against a main wall, it anchors a room with its balanced proportions and traditional Victorian craftsmanship.
