Description

A rare and highly sought-after piece of heirloom vintage Hermes. This is solid (950) silver cup lavishly covered in a thick 18k yellow gold. The cup is signed HERMÈS PARIS and bears the French Minerva hallmark, together with the maker’s mark of the well renowned French silversmith Ravinet d’Enfert.

The cup remains in it's original presentation case signed on the interior "HERMÈS

24, Faubourg Saint-Honoré, Paris. The case is in lovely condition as is the cup with a well reserved bright gold finish.

A superb piece in excellent condition, the cup measuring 2 76" tall x 2.56" in diameter and the case measuring 4" x 4 1/2" x 3".

Hermès began as a humble harness workshop serving European noblemen. Over six generations of artisans, the family-run brand evolved from crafting elite equestrian gear into a global luxury powerhouse renowned for fine leather goods, silk scarves, silver and iconic handbags.

Ravinet d'Enfert was a prestigious Parisian silversmithing firm founded in 1845 by E. Tonnelier. Located at 83 rue du Temple in Paris, the house became renowned for exquisite Art Nouveau and Art Deco tableware, frequently manufacturing luxury silver pieces for Hermès before closing in 1984.

This mid-century modern vermeil and sterling silver gilt cup dates from 1950. The piece takes the form of a tapered beaker with a flared rim, finished in a bright 18k yellow gold over solid 950 silver. The cup is signed "HERMÈS PARIS" and carries the French Minerva hallmark along with the maker's mark of Ravinet d'Enfert. It rests inside its original grey fabric-lined presentation box, which features gold lettering on the white interior satin lining and a small brass latch on the exterior.
