English 19th Century Impressive Godwinesque Antique Pine Bookcase

This is a wonderful English antique Arts and Crafts pine bookcase very much in the manner of Godwin. Dates to around 1870 and is very well made in two sections. The top shaped, open book casing has nine reeded and adjustable original pine shelves with lovely wide pine backboards. The bookcase base has six doors that have beautifully made original iron work strap hinges along with original iron handles and key hole covers. In excellent condition throughout, a rare to come by English antique Godwin manner Arts & Crafts movement bookcase of impressive proportions. The open bookcase shelves are 22cm deep.

This nineteenth-century English bookcase dates from around 1870 in the Arts and Crafts and Gothic Revival styles, designed in the manner of Godwin. Constructed in two sections from natural pine, the upper half features three open bays with nine reeded adjustable shelves and wide backboards beneath shaped uprights. The lower cabinet contains four panelled doors fitted with original wrought iron strap hinges, drop handles and keyhole covers, supported on straightforward block feet. The piece stands at 201 cm high by 252 cm wide and 32 cm deep. Suitable for a living room, library or study, it provides extensive storage for books and display objects.
