Antique Austrian 900 Silver & Black Leather Cigar / Cheroot Case by Jc for Carl Heiss Vienna C1914-22

Description

A super quality early 20th Century Austro-Hungarian HARD LEATHER POCKET CASE, ideal for cigars, cigarillos, cigarettes or even calling cards.

The classic two-part case features a fine black leather body bisected by a solid silver band.

The outer lid slides off smoothly and fits securely over the inner sleeve.

The silver band is hallmarked one both parts with the makers mark JC and the Austrian assay hallmark of Diana’s head facing right. To the left is 2 for 900 silver, to the right A for Vienna.

Inside gold lettering with the Retailers mark of CARL HEISS WIEN KOHLMARKT 12, this places the date of this item between 1914 - 1922.

Cigar / Cigarillo / Cheroot case measures 11 cm x 8 cm and weighs 55 grams.

Condition is very good. The external leather maintains a strong deep patina with light wear. The silver band has a few light scratches typical for its age, the hallmarks are good and legible. Internally the leather is scuffed where it’s been used for 100+ years but nothing major (see photos)

A beautiful piece in great condition.
