Victorian Antique 18ct Gold, Citrine and Agate Brooch, C.1880

Description

This is a very rare Victorian antique 18ct gold brooch. It has 6 perfect agates with no damage and a beautiful mounted citrine. The brooch has a gold pin with a rotating clasp, there is a safety chain attached. In general this brooch is in excellent condition with no damage. Queen Victoria popularized Scottish agate jewellery during her stay at Balmoral Castle in the Highlands, she gave them as presents and worn them herself. Most are made of silver but only a very few were made in gold, even less in 18ct gold.
