This pair of large Italian fire dogs from 1920 follows a grand Neoclassical style. Made from brass and iron, the matching pieces display a bright, polished brass finish and colour. Each upright support takes the form of a fluted column topped with a Corinthian capital, decorated with applied cast relief crests in a heroic style. The bases stand on three curved cabriole legs ending in claw feet, accompanied by upright rear hooks and side handles. The set measures 89 cm high, 30 cm wide, and 64 cm deep.
