Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Edwardian sterling silver tobacco box takes a rounded, pebble-shaped form with a planished hand-hammered texture and a smooth central circular cartouche. The silver surfaces display a bright metallic sheen with subtle reflections, a horizontal seam running along the middle where the two halves meet, and a small inset circular top lid. Measuring 2.5 cm high, 7.5 cm wide, and 7.5 cm deep, the compact case fits easily into a pocket or rests on a flat surface. Inside a home today, this piece functions well on an office desk as a small storage container for keepsakes or small accessories. The squeeze-action mechanism allows the lid to flip open to reveal the interior compartment. Solid sterling silver construction gives the container a durable weight for everyday handling in a study or library setting.

A squeeze tobacco pebble is a smooth, rounded pocket-sized container produced during the late Victorian and Edwardian eras to carry tobacco, designed to open when the sides are squeezed.

These items were predominantly crafted from sterling silver, often featuring hand-hammered planished finishes popularised by the Arts and Crafts movement.

Authentic British silver from this period displays clear assay hallmarks, including the lion passant for sterling purity, a town mark, a makers mark, and a specific date letter from 1901 to 1910.

Small antique silver objects are frequently placed on office desks, coffee table trays, or bookshelves as tactile decorative elements or functional storage for small items.

Silver should be cleaned gently using a soft cotton cloth and specialist silver polish, taking care not to rub excessively on textured or hammered areas to prevent loss of detail.
