Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Silver animal figurines have a long history as decorative desk ornaments, paperweights, and cabinet curiosities, peaking in popularity during the 19th and mid-20th centuries. These miniature models were often crafted using solid casting or electroforming techniques to capture organic wildlife details.

Cast silver figurines are typically constructed using sterling silver or solid silver alloys, created via lost-wax casting or sand casting methods. Detail is added through chasing and engraving, while oxidised finishes are often applied to highlight textured fur, skin, or hide.

Authentic silver figures from the mid-20th century usually display makers marks, silver hallmarks, or purity stamps denoting silver content. Genuine cast pieces demonstrate notable weight relative to their size and fine hand-chased surface details rather than smooth mould seams.

A solid silver animal figurine works well displayed on a dark wood office desk, integrated into a styled bookshelf vignette, or paired with books on a side table. Combining silver objects with natural textures like leather or oak enhances their metallic finish.

Dust silver figurines regularly with a soft microfibre cloth and clean recessed details gently using a soft-bristled brush. Apply a specialist silver polish sparingly to high points, leaving light tarnish in crevices to maintain depth and contrast.
