Pair of Standing Terrier Dog Brass Candlesticks, C.1910

Description

A delightful pair of brass candlesticks in the form of standing terriers, circa. early 20th century.

Each candlestick has a finely cast brass dog upon its hind legs with glass eyes holding a candlestick within its paws upon a wooden base. A 'true pair' in that the candlesticks are mirror imaged. One dog has slightly more verdigris than the other.

This pair of Edwardian candlesticks dates from around 1910 and takes the form of standing terrier dogs cast in bright gold-coloured brass with dark glass eyes. Each animal stands on its hind legs upon a circular dark brown turned wooden base, holding a tall baluster column with a candle cup within its paws.
