Antique Victorian Fire Fender

Description

A handsome antique Victorian fire fender of generous proportions, combining a black cast iron base with brass rails and fittings. The long rectangular fender has a moulded cast iron plinth with decorative detailing, surmounted by a substantial brass rail supported on turned uprights. Rounded brass finials to the corners and centre give the piece a nicely finished appearance. A good, substantial period fireplace accessory with an attractive combination of aged brass and dark iron.

In good antique condition with wear consistent with age and use. The brass has areas of tarnishing, discolouration and surface marking, while the cast iron base has general wear and marks throughout.
