Fabulously Simple and Sweet All Brass Single Beds (Can Be Joined)

1900 - 1920
For Sale by Bedsteads
Description

A fabulous pair of all brass single beds. Perfect for spare, guest, attic or a very lucky children’s room. There is such a beauty and elegance in the simpleness of the design of these beds, very attractive without being ornate. These beds can be joined to make an occasional super king sized bed.

The bed has a gorgeous, more shabby chic patina which we have cleaned and highlighted. It catches the light beautifully whilst still respects the age and history of this stunning bed.

Professionally restored with all joints checked for a solid and secure fit. The side rails have been adapted to be able to take slats or a bed base.

Whole frame has been cleaned, tightened and restored to ensure full working order and sturdiness.

Head Height 126cm

Foot Height 110cm

Side Rail Height 43cm

Overall Width 93cm

Overall Length 207cm

Suitable for standard UK Single mattresses 3’ x 6’3” / 90cm x 190cm

Price includes wood slats (sorry not mattress).

As an alternative to the wood slats we can supply mini box bases for superior mattress support and to raise the get into bed height. The bed is photographed on a slats with our Montpellier mattress. We can supply hand-made mattresses in all comfort choices, and also with zip and link connections if needed. Please see our web site or email for full specifications and prices.

This pair of Victorian single beds dates from 1900 and is constructed from a tubular brass and iron frame finished in a warm brass tone, featuring rounded crest rails, turned brass collars above the legs, and wheel castors at the base. The clean lines give the frames an understated design vibe suited to an English country house interior, while the cleaned and highlighted patina preserves their authentic antique character. Each bed measures 126 cm high, 93 cm wide, and 207 cm deep, and the pair can be joined together to form an occasional super king-sized bed. These versatile single beds function well in a spare, guest, attic, or children's bedroom to provide flexible sleeping arrangements for family or visitors.

FAQs

Late 19th-century brass bedsteads are defined by hollow brass tubing over iron cores, featuring rounded or rectilinear frame profiles, turned brass joinery, and heavy cast iron side rails designed for hook-in assembly.

Manufacturers combined drawn brass tubes, solid cast brass collar fittings, and forged iron angle irons to provide structural rigidity while maintaining a polished or patinated metallic exterior.

Authentic period pieces display cast iron corner brackets, original pitch-filled brass tubing, natural oxidisation on unlacquered surfaces, and traditional iron or brass wheel castors.

Position the twin frames side by side in a guest room with neutral linen bedding, or place them with patterned fabrics to achieve a classic English country house aesthetic.

Dust the metal surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth and clean periodically using a mild soapy water solution or specialized metal polish, avoiding abrasive pads that scratch the finish.
