Description

The rectangular moulded top above a shaped and slightly bowed open-fronted case, arranged as three bays with adjustable shelves. The exterior is richly veneered in kingwood with quarter- and chevron-matched decoration, the interior fitted with darker timber backboards and shelf surfaces. Applied gilt-metal foliate mounts embellish the upper corners, shaped apron and cabriole legs, terminating in decorative sabots.

A handsome and generously proportioned library bookcase, combining practical adjustable storage with finely figured veneers and restrained Rococo-style ornament.
