Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An Ilgich is a square embroidered textile traditionally created by women of the nomadic Lakai tribe in Uzbekistan as part of a brides dowry. These textiles feature bold geometric and solar motifs and were hung inside felt tents to display tribal identity and craftsmanship.

Lakai embroideries typically utilise silk or wool threads stitched onto a hand-woven wool or cotton ground fabric. The stitching predominantly features cross-stitch or continuous chain stitch techniques, finished with multi-coloured thread fringing around the outer edges.

Authentic late-nineteenth-century Lakai pieces are distinguished by dynamic, swirling motifs, such as horned spirals and solar medallions, executed in natural-dyed silk threads. They exhibit tight hand-stitching on hand-loomed foundations and characteristic multi-coloured fringe borders.

Displaying the embroidery mounted in a shadow box frame or suspended from a neutral wooden rod creates a focal point on neutral walls. The vibrant colours and graphic motifs contrast effectively against natural materials like plaster, raw oak, and dark linen.

Keep antique embroideries out of direct sunlight to prevent silk degradation and fading of natural dyes. Mount the textile using acid-free materials, and clean using gentler methods advised by professional textile conservators.
