Antique Silver Art Nouveau Covered Bowl

£3,250    $4,342    €3,800
This is an exceptional piece of antique solid sterling silver. A covered dish or bowl, designed by Kate Harris for William Hutton & Sons, in a typical Art Nouveau style.

It is clearly hallmarked for London 1901, both on the inside of the lid and the rim of the bowl. The hand hammered bowl has wide handles and stands on a central stem with a circular pedestal base. There is one small crease on the rim above the hallmark, which is shown in the penultimate photograph.

Kate Harris (1878–1939) was a prominent British designer who created celebrated Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts silver work for William Hutton & Sons in their London studio between 1899 and 1905. Her rare pieces often featured flowing organic floral motifs, enamelling, and stylized maiden profiles
