Extremely Rare German Hanau Solid Silver Elephant Pounce Box C1880 Antique

Description

A very rare beautiful German Hanau solid silver pounce box. It is hallmarked GERMANY along with Hanau marks. I would date it to c1880. It has been superbly made being cast in the form of an Indian elephant. It is in super condition being free from dings splits holes and repairs, the inside is clean. It measures approx. 3 inches (7.6cm) across by 1 inch (2.6cm) wide by 2 inches (5.1cm) tall and weighs 80 grams. A very rare well made piece.
