Lee Hawkins Antiques & Interiors has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
Constructed from richly figured mahogany of excellent colour and quality, the cabinet features a pair of astragal glazed doors incorporating attractive geometric glazing bars with diamond motifs and shaped panels, creating a striking visual balance while allowing the contents to be displayed beautifully.

Particularly impressive is the finely carved and pierced fretwork pediment surmounted by a classical urn finial and decorative laurel swags, reflecting the strong influence of eighteenth-century Chippendale designs. The quality of the carving throughout is exceptional, with intricate latticework decoration, finely moulded cornices and elegant architectural detailing rarely found on standard production pieces.

The lower section incorporates a full-width drawer providing practical concealed storage, whilst the cabinet is raised on an elegant stand featuring fluted supports, pierced corner brackets and a decorative stretcher base, all executed with considerable attention to detail.

Combining decorative appeal with practical functionality, this versatile piece would work beautifully as a library bookcase, display cabinet, collector's cabinet or statement piece within both traditional and contemporary interiors.
