Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Gothic Revival furniture emerged in the 18th century and gained widespread popularity during the Victorian era, drawing inspiration from medieval architectural elements such as pointed arches, trefoils, Gothic tracery, and steep gables.

Satinwood was highly valued for its lustrous, shimmering grain and was frequently paired with darker accent timbers. High-end pieces featured hand-cut dovetail joints, glazed panel doors, solid wood backboards, and fine veneers applied over stable hardwood cores.

Authentic pieces display evidence of period craftsmanship, including hand-sawn timber marks, original brass locks, hand-blown or irregular glass pane thickness, and architectural details like lancet arches carved into the door frames or spandrels.

Position the cabinet as a focal point against a neutral backdrop to allow the golden tones of the satinwood and intricate tracery to stand out, balancing its architectural silhouette with understated contemporary decor.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year. Keep the cabinet away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent timber shrinkage and veneer bleaching.
