A very pretty English antique solid silver string or thread holder. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1876 with the makers marks being L&S. It has been beautifully designed being finely engraved. The cross bar is steel and one end can be pulled out to load the string / thread bobbin. It is in superb condition being free from dings splits and repairs. It measures approx. 8 inches (19.6cm) long by 3.75 inches 9.3cms) wide and weighs and weighs 42 grams. A very pretty piece.
