This Art Deco period condiment stand dates from circa 1920 and combines silver-plated metal with clear glass. The piece comprises a dual-holder base with a scalloped rim, four small ball feet, and a central upright looped handle. Two matching round glass bowls sit within the frame, decorated with an all-over diamond cut pattern across their outer surfaces. The silver-plated frame has a polished metallic finish showing light surface wear consistent with age and gentle use, while the glass components remain free of chips or cracks. The overall dimensions measure 18 cm high by 23 cm wide and 14 cm deep. In a contemporary home, this condiment stand suits placement on a dining table or sideboard top for holding relishes, sauces, or preserves during meals. The twin configuration and elevated central handle allow the piece to be easily lifted and passed among guests. The neutral metallic and glass tones coordinate with various tableware styles, adding practical serving utility and period character to dining spaces.

A condiment stand is a dining accessory designed to hold small glass dishes for condiments, preserves, pickles, or salt, featuring a central handle for passing between guests at the table.

These pieces were typically constructed from electroplated nickel silver (EPNS) or silver plate combined with moulded or cut clear glass inserts to safely hold food without tarnishing the metal.

Authentic items usually feature makers marks or EPNS stamps on the underside of the metal base, alongside period design details such as geometric handles and diamond-cut glass patterns.

The piece can be displayed on a dining table or sideboard to serve condiments and preserves, or repurposed on a dressing table to hold small items of jewellery.

Glass inserts should be washed in warm soapy water, while the silver-plated stand requires gentle cleaning with a soft cloth and non-abrasive silver polish to protect the plated surface.
