Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This antique Bakshiash carpet dates from 1890 and originates from the Heriz district of North West Persia. Hand-knotted from wool and cotton, the piece displays a terracotta red field decorated with a central geometric medallion, angular foliage, and abrash colour variation, alongside highlights of green, yellow, and orange. The broad light blue border incorporates a traditional turtle border pattern. Visible details include light wear and loss to the ends in very good, original condition, set against a concrete outdoor surface. Measuring 285 cm by 352 cm, this large area rug suits generous living spaces, studies, or dining rooms within an English Country House setting, anchoring the room layout and providing warmth underfoot.

Originating from the Heriz region in North West Persia, Bakshaish carpets are recognised for their stylized geometric interpretations of classical Persian floral patterns. Produced in villages during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, they typically feature prominent central medallions, expansive design scales, and muted colour palettes.

These carpets are hand-knotted using hand-spun wool pile woven onto a cotton or wool warp and weft foundation. Dyes derived from natural plant and mineral sources create the characteristic terracotta, indigo, and cream colour tones.

Authenticity is indicated by hand-knotted construction, natural abrash colour variations within the wool, and geometric, semi-formal design motifs. The reverse side of the carpet exhibits visible, slightly irregular knotting typical of regional village weaving.

Position the carpet as an anchoring element in a living room or dining space, placing key furniture items partially across the pile. The warm terracotta and blue hues provide visual contrast against neutral timber flooring and contemporary furniture.

Vacuum regularly without a rotating beater bar to protect the pile fibres. Rotate the carpet annually to ensure even light exposure and wear, addressing spills immediately with a clean dry cloth before seeking professional specialist cleaning.
