Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Persian Heriz carpet originates from around 1900 and is made from wool and cotton. The piece displays a large-scale allover pattern with a rust red central field, geometric medallions in light blue, cream, and olive green, rectilinear palmettes, and stylized foliage, all framed by a multi-band sky blue border. The carpet has a full pile with some reweaving to one end border, showing the hand-knotted construction. It measures 357 cm high by 246 cm wide with a depth of 1 cm. It fits well in an English Country House interior setting, bringing traditional floor covering to living spaces or bedrooms.

FAQs

Heriz carpets originate from the Heris region in Northwest Iran, renowned for their durable hand-knotted construction and bold geometric medallion designs woven on a cotton warp.

These carpets are hand-knotted using durable hand-spun wool pile woven onto a heavy cotton warp and weft foundation, coloured with vegetable dyes.

Authentic Heriz rugs feature distinctive rectilinear, angular motifs rather than curved floral patterns, along with high wool quality, vegetable-dyed colour variations, and a firm, heavy weave.

A Heriz carpet grounds a contemporary space by providing warmth, rich colour, and geometric pattern, pairing effectively with neutral upholstered furniture and natural timber accents.

Regular vacuuming without a suction beater bar, prompt spot cleaning with cold water, and periodic professional hand-washing ensure long-term preservation of the wool fibres.
