Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Silver christening mugs have been traditionally presented as gifts to newborns during baptism or naming ceremonies since the 17th century, serving as both a celebratory keepsake and an investment in precious metal for the childs future.

These items were typically handcrafted from sterling silver using techniques such as spinning, hammering, and detailed hand-chasing or engraving to decorate the exterior surfaces.

Authenticity is verified by examining the hallmark stamps, which generally include a makers mark, a standard mark indicating sterling quality, a city assay office mark, and a date letter corresponding to the specific year of production.

Antique silver pieces can be displayed on mantelpieces, bookshelves, or sideboards as reflective decorative objects that add texture, historical contrast, and metallic sheen to modern spaces.

Silver should be cleaned infrequently using specialised non-abrasive silver polish to preserve the patina, handled with soft cloths or cotton gloves to prevent skin oils from causing tarnishing, and stored in a dry environment.
