Meissen Porcelain Plates With Streublumen Decoration, Set Of Three, 1880s

£600    $804    €703
A set of three finely painted Meissen porcelain plates dating from the 1880s and decorated with the celebrated Streublumen pattern. Each plate features individually painted floral sprays and sprigs executed in polychrome enamels, arranged in the characteristic scattered manner that became one of Meissen''s most enduring decorative motifs.

The gently undulating rims are highlighted with fine gilding, providing an elegant frame to the floral decoration. The reverse of each plate bears the underglaze blue crossed swords mark of the Meissen manufactory.

Originating during the mid-18th century, the Streublumen pattern reflected the growing taste for naturalistic floral decoration and became a hallmark of Meissen production. By the late Victorian period it remained one of the factory''s most recognisable and popular designs.

Despite condition issues, the plates retain excellent decorative appeal and remain attractive examples of late 19th-century Meissen porcelain.
