Now this is something truly striking, it''s not every day we come across a piece like this.
A large French style writing desk, beautifully made in the Louis XV taste and finished with elegant gilt bronze mounts throughout.
The curved shaped top features a gilt-tooled leather writing surface, framed by a brass edge, giving the piece both presence and practicality. Below, three generously sized drawers run across the front, each decorated with ornate gilt bronze mounts and delicate foliate marquetry.
The desk stands on graceful cabriole legs with finely cast ormolu mounts to the knees and feet, adding to its overall sense of movement and refinement. The veneered body showcases rich figuring, likely kingwood or a similar exotic timber, arranged in a classic parquetry style.
The leather top shows age-related wear, adding to its character, while the decorative finish has been sympathetically refreshed over the years.
A true statement piece, ideal for a study, retail display,
...or interior setting where a bold, decorative desk is required.
