The cabinet features a pair of glazed doors, each with slender vertical astragal glazing bars and shaped upper arches, opening to reveal a fitted shelved interior.
The warm walnut case is beautifully enhanced with hand-painted chinoiserie decoration, including Oriental landscape scenes, pagodas, figures, flowers and delicate gilt detailing. The decoration is arranged across the doors, uprights, cornice and lower section, giving the piece a highly attractive and refined look.
Raised on cabriole-style front legs with shaped feet, the cabinet has a graceful stance and would make an excellent display piece for books, ceramics, glassware or decorative objects. The interior shelves appear to be finished in a rich reddish tone, contrasting nicely with the walnut exterior and painted detail.
A very decorative and usable antique cabinet, ideal for a drawing room, study, hallway or bedroom.
Condition:
In antique used condition, with age-related wear, marks, minor knocks, rubbing to the painted and gilt decoration, and general signs of use consistent with age.
