A Corozo Nut Thimble Case With Silver Thimble

£155    $207    €182
A lovely piece of late Victorian sewing ware. This is a delightfully carved Corozo nut, with good colouring, shape and size. Modelled to represent an acorn, the case unscrews to reveal a silver thimble to the inside. The thimble is a later companion dating to the reign of George V. Corozo nuts are the seeds of the Phytelephas palm tree and is more commonly known as ''vegetable ivory'' due to its colouring. Native to Central/South American rainforests, they are dried and carved into highly durable, eco-friendly pieces. A usable addition to any collection. Dimensions below.
