The Onslow pattern originated in the mid-18th century, characterised by its distinctive scroll and shell terminal handle design, and was later revived during the Victorian era for specialised tea services.

These sets are typically constructed from sterling silver, often featuring cast or stamped handles soldered to bowls, housed in a fitted presentation case lined with velvet and satin.

Authentic pieces bear official British assay office hallmarks, including a date letter, lion passant for sterling silver, and makers marks, which help verify the period of manufacture.

Antique silver can be displayed in glass-fronted cabinets or incorporated into contemporary table settings to add textural contrast and historical depth to a dining space.

Silver should be cleaned periodically with a non-abrasive silver polish and stored in anti-tarnish cloth or fitted presentation boxes to prevent oxidation and scratching.
