Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A newel post lamp is an architectural light fixture designed to be mounted atop the central support post of a staircase. Popular during the Edwardian period, these lamps provided essential hallway illumination while acting as a decorative statement.

These fixtures were predominantly crafted from solid cast brass or bronze, often featuring turned stems, decorative gadrooning, and twin or triple arm branches to support glass shades or bayonet bulb holders.

Authentic period pieces feature substantial weight due to cast brass construction, threaded component joinery, period-correct bayonet lamp holders, and a square or circular mounting base with pre-drilled screw holes for architectural installation.

While originally fixed to staircases, these lamps can be adapted into striking table lamps for entryway console tables, sideboards, or desk arrangements to bring warm metallic tones and historic structure to modern schemes.

Clean the surface regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive polishes that strip protective lacquers or historic patina, and ensure rewiring is completed by a certified electrician.
