Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Popular during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Edwardian silver mesh purses are flexible evening bags constructed from interconnected metal rings. Often featuring hallmarked frames and secure clasps, these purses were designed as functional fashion accessories for carrying personal items at formal occasions.

These purses were primarily constructed from sterling silver, silver-gilt, or nickel-plated alloys. The mesh body was assembled using woven metal rings, attached to a solid silver frame with a ball-clasp or push-release mechanism.

Authentic pieces feature official hallmark or import stamps on the metal frame, denoting silver purity, assay office, date letter, and makers initials. Additional indicators include hand-assembled ring links and natural oxidisation within the metal joins.

An antique silver mesh purse can serve as a accent piece for modern evening wear or formal attire. Alternatively, it can be displayed inside a glass shadow box or atop a vanity table as a decorative collectors item.

Clean delicate silver mesh gently using a soft-bristled brush and a specialist silver polishing cloth, avoiding harsh liquid chemical dips. Store flat in an acid-free pouch in a dry environment to prevent tarnishing and stress on the metal links.
