Size: 3ft 7in x 1ft 4in (108 x 40cm) face size.

Antique Yomut Turkmen torba with well drawn 'kepse' gul design.

Circa 1900.

A good Yomut torba with excellent colour and good wool. The torba has survived very well and still retains the original plain weave back. These torba were used to decorate the side of a camel during a Turkmen wedding procession, these were prized possessions and formed part of the wedding dowry. The were kept as heirlooms and displayed inside the yurt. This example is of fine weave and has survived in excellent condition. The design features two 'kepse' guls on a soft brown ground, this design is usually found on main carpets by the Yomut.

The torba is in excellent condition with very slight wear and excellent full pile.

This antique Yomut Turkmen torba is a tribal textile dating from around 1900, created in the Turkmen tribal style using hand-knotted pile wool.
