This weft wrapped panel is from a mafrash or bedding bag. The range and tone of the colours indicates good age and I place it in the late 19th Century because of this. The quality of Shahsavan weaving is to be admired and these little panels demonstrate the best of their work. An allover pattern is always attractive and the random placement of the coloured diamonds is also pleasing. The might be a piece for the collector who has no more room for rugs if such a thing is possible.
