Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An Uut Kap or Ilgich is a decorative embroidered envelope-style storage pouch or hanging panel traditionally crafted by nomadic tribes in Central Asia, particularly Uzbekistan. Historically used inside yurts to hold household items, these textiles feature symbolic needlework designed to offer protection and display craftsmanship.

Traditional Central Asian embroideries are predominantly constructed using hand-spun wool or cotton foundations, decorated with chain stitch or couching stitches using silk threads. Dyes were historically derived from natural plant and mineral sources, such as madder root for deep reds, indigo for blues, and pomegranate skins for yellows.

Authentic pieces display hand-spun ground fabrics with slight irregularities in weave, natural dye tonal shifts known as abrash, and detailed hand needlework. The reverse side often reveals uneven hand-stitching, age-appropriate wear, and original wool or silk tassel construction rather than modern synthetic embellishments.

A Central Asian embroidered textile can be mounted in a shadow-box frame or suspended from a discreet mounting rod to create a focal point on a gallery wall. Pairing rich, embroidered textiles with minimalist furniture or neutral backdrops allows the vibrant colours and geometric motifs to stand out.

Keep antique textiles out of direct sunlight to prevent UV fading and dye degradation. To clean, avoid water immersion or harsh chemicals; gently vacuum using a low-suction setting through a soft protective screen, and consult a professional textile conservator for dust accumulation or repairs.
