Fine Quality George II Figured Walnut Bureau Bookcase

Description

A super quality early Georgian walnut bureau bookcase, cross-banded and inlaid with herringbone inlay. Below the cornice are arched mirrored panel doors, enclosing three adjustable shelves; there are two pull out candle slides. The bureau has exceptional figuring to the flap; the interior has secret drawers to the pilasters flanking the small arched cupboard, and small drawers. The flap writing interior is leather lined. The drawers are oak lined, and have old, possibly original, engraved brass handles, and the bureau bookcase stands on shaped bracket feet.
