Minty of Oxford, the makers of this antique three-tier glazed mahogany bookcase, have a long-established history of crafting high quality office furniture for solicitors, lawyers and companies across the globe. However, these stylish bookcases have increasing found their way into the home, because their simple uniform outlines and lack of decorative exuberance sits comfortably within today's interiors. This example particularly appealed to me, because, not only was it in good original condition, with a base-section that boasts plenty of depth to house larger books, but, it also has a very attractive surface - its once deep and rich mahogany surround has, over the last 100 years, transformed into a mellow and appealing range of soft warm tones. Now, after being carefully restored, taking great care not to disturb its patina, this bookcase is ready to be used and enjoyed once more.
