We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Sampson Mordan was a renowned London silversmith and maker, famously associated with inventing the first propelling pencil and producing high-quality Victorian and Edwardian novelty silver items, including chatelaines, scent bottles, and detailed animal bookmarks.

These items were typically crafted from solid sterling silver using traditional manufacturing methods such as casting for figural finials and sheet rolling, hand-stamping, and engraving for the blade, followed by manual polishing.

Authenticity is verified through clear hallmarks stamped directly onto the silver, which usually include the makers mark (such as S.M for Sampson Mordan), the lion passant for sterling silver, the town mark for the assay office, and a date letter corresponding to the year of testing.

Antique silver accessories add a touch of curated sophistication when displayed on a desk, within a glass-fronted cabinet, or laid flat on a coffee table book as a functional conversation piece.

Sterling silver should be kept away from high humidity and direct sunlight, cleaned infrequently using a non-abrasive microfibre cloth specifically treated for silver, and stored without rubber bands or materials that cause accelerated tarnishing.
