Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Warwick Vase is a classical urn form based on a second-century Roman marble vase discovered in 1770 at Hadrians Villa in Tivoli. Frequently reproduced in bronze or iron during the nineteenth century, these vessels were acquired by travellers on the European Grand Tour as symbols of classical taste and antiquarian interest.

Antique Warwick Vases were predominantly cast in solid bronze or iron using sand-casting or lost-wax techniques. The complex formsincluding relief Bacchic masks and intertwined vine handleswere cast in sections, assembled, chased by hand, and finished with a dark chemical patina.

Authentic period examples exhibit high-density casting, crisp hand-chasing on the relief facial details, and authentic wear to the dark patina on raised surfaces. Structural features include threaded rod construction visible inside the base and traditional hand-cut threads rather than modern metric hardware.

A bronze Warwick Vase functions as a dramatic focal point on a dining table, marble mantelpiece, or hallway sideboard. Its sculptural silhouette and dark patinated surface contrast effectively against modern neutral backdrops, dark wood panelling, or stone surfaces.

Maintain patinated bronze by dusting regularly with a soft, dry cloth or a soft-bristled natural hair brush to clear intricate relief work. Avoid water, liquid chemical polishes, and abrasive cleaners, applying a light layer of clear microcrystalline wax annually to protect the metal finish.
