Victorian decorative porcelain refers to ceramic items produced during the reign of Queen Victoria, highly prized for intricate hand-painting, rich colour palettes, and gilt accents often displayed as cabinet pieces.

Antique porcelain should be kept away from direct sunlight and extreme temperature fluctuations, cleaned only with a dry or very lightly damp soft cloth, and never submerged in water if containing delicate gilt work.

Antique decorative plates can be mounted on walls using specialist plate hangers or displayed upright on display stands within cabinets or on mantelpieces to add rich colour and historical texture.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit makers marks, impressed culls, or pattern numbers on the underside, alongside characteristic hand-finished details and natural wear consistent with age.

Potters typically utilised refined earthenware, bone china, or porcelain bodies, finished with mineral-based coloured glazes and gold leaf or gilt paste applications.
