James Darquits was a silversmith who began his apprenticeship in 1772, became a freeman in 1786, and registered his maker’s mark “(I.D.)” in London in 1787. His marks are found on pieces from the late 18th century, such as a London-made George III silver beaker dated 1799, which shows his mark, the lion passant for sterling silver, the date letter for 1799, and the monarch’s head duty mark.
