Art Nouveau emerged in the late 19th century, characterised by organic forms, sinuous lines inspired by natural shapes, and asymmetrical compositions that rejected historic revival styles.

These items were typically crafted from solid sterling silver or silver plate, often featuring velvet or wood backing boards and glass viewing panes.

Authentic period pieces bear legible British hallmark stamps indicating the assay office, metal purity, and date letter, alongside distinctive hand-chased organic motifs.

Position it on a dark wood desk or mantelpiece to contrast the polished silver surface, allowing the fluid lines to complement minimalist or eclectic surroundings.

Clean gently with a specialised microfibre cloth and non-abrasive silver polish to maintain the lustre without wearing down the delicate embossed details.
