Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Caucasian runner rugs originate from the Caucasus region between the Black and Caspian Seas, produced primarily during the 19th and early 20th centuries. They are characterised by bold geometric motifs, tribal emblems, and natural dyes arranged in narrow, elongated formats designed for corridors.

Caucasian rugs are hand-knotted using locally sourced wool for both the pile and the warp and weft foundation. Weavers utilised symmetrical knots, creating durable textiles dyed with natural vegetable pigments derived from madder, indigo, and local plants.

Authentic Caucasian pieces feature geometric motifs, visible hand-knotted structural variations on the reverse, and wool foundations rather than cotton. Natural dye variations, known as abrash, and traditional tribal symbols like stepped medallions or latch-hook borders indicate genuine regional origin.

A Caucasian runner adds texture and visual structure to long hallways, entryways, or the space alongside a bed. Its geometric palette complements polished wooden flooring, neutral plaster walls, and contemporary or eclectic furniture arrangements.

Vacuum carefully using a suction-only setting without a rotating brush bar to protect the hand-spun wool fibres. Rotate the runner periodically to ensure even wear, place a quality underlay underneath to prevent slipping, and consult a specialist rug restorer for stain removal.
