An antique Kurdish rug is a hand-knotted textile produced by tribal and village weavers in the Kurdistan region, renowned for dense foundations and robust wool construction.

These carpets traditionally feature hand-spun wool for both the pile and the foundation warps and wefts, often dyed using natural botanical and mineral colourants.

Authenticity is identified through structural characteristics such as heavy weight, symmetric or asymmetric knotting, sturdy ribbed foundations, and traditional tribal motifs.

This piece can be layered over hardwood floors or neutral stone tiles to add rich texture, historical depth, and vibrant colour to contemporary living spaces.

Preservation requires regular gentle vacuuming without beater bars, professional hand-washing when necessary, and avoiding direct, prolonged exposure to harsh sunlight.
