Antique tribal Afshar rug with repeat heratti design.
 
2nd half 19th century.
 
An interesting early tribal Afshar rug with a repeat heratti (leaf) design on a dark indigo blue ground. The field is also covered with small tribal devices such as amulets. The borders are of classic design. Note the long kilim ends with a band of weft work decoration.
 
Good condition with even wear, medium pile.
 
Very soft wool with a floppy handle, hand washed and ready for use. The rug is suitable for light domestic use.
