Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

East Turkestan rugs originate from oasis towns along the Silk Road, such as Khotan, Yarkand, and Kashgar. These textiles are celebrated for blending design elements from Chinese, Persian, and Central Asian cultures, typically featuring geometric medallions, floral motifs, and structured borders.

Khotan rugs are traditionally hand-knotted using hand-spun wool pile on a cotton or wool warp foundation. They frequently employ asymmetrical knotting techniques and natural vegetable dyes to produce rich shades of red, blue, saffron yellow, and cream.

Authentic antique Khotan rugs display soft wool, slightly long pile, and characteristic design motifs such as three-star medallions, pomegranates, or fretwork borders. Inspecting the underside reveals asymmetric hand-knotting, natural colour variations (abrash), and a flexible cotton or wool foundation.

An antique East Turkestan rug acts as an anchoring focal point in both traditional and contemporary settings. Modern interior designers often pair the bold geometric patterns and warm red tones of these carpets with neutral furniture, polished hard floors, or minimalist timber pieces.

To preserve an antique wool rug, vacuum regularly without using a rotating beater bar, and rotate the carpet periodically to ensure even wear and light exposure. Professional dry cleaning by a specialist textile restorer is recommended for stain removal and deep maintenance.
