Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This eighteenth-century Dutch Delftware plate displays a traditional tin-glazed earthenware construction finished in a striking cobalt blue and white colour palette. The central well features a hand-painted floral basket motif surrounded by delicate foliage, set against a white glazed ground. An intricate cross-hatch border pattern and lattice rim detailing frame the piece, enclosed by fine concentric circles. Minor chips to the ceramic body and slight surface wear are visible along the perimeter, demonstrating authentic signs of age and handling over centuries of use. Measuring 31.5 cm wide, the plate functions well as a decorative display piece in various residential settings. It sits comfortably on a sideboard top, dresser shelf, or within a cabinet collection, adding a classic eighteenth-century Dutch aesthetic to traditional interiors. The cobalt blue hand-painted decoration coordinates easily with existing ceramic displays and antique table settings, bringing historical character to dining rooms, kitchens, or living spaces as a focal point or accent object.

FAQs

Delftware is tin-glazed earthenware produced predominantly around Delft in the Netherlands, renowned for cobalt blue hand-painted decoration inspired by imported East Asian porcelain.

Traditional Delftware was crafted from a pale earthenware clay body coated with an opaque white tin glaze, decorated with cobalt oxide paint prior to a final firing.

Authentic period pieces exhibit characteristic rim glaze flaking known as fritting, visible earthenware showing through edge wear, and uneven hand-painted cobalt brushwork.

Display the plate on a metal wire stand atop a sideboard, place it within a china cabinet, or mount it as part of a gallery wall arrangement.

Clean gently using a soft, dry brush or microfibre cloth, avoiding water immersion or liquid cleaners that could penetrate glaze crazing and damage the porous clay base.
