FAQs

Antique brass lamps date back centuries, evolving from functional oil and candle burners to electrified fixtures during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Their design often reflects prevailing historical periods such as Victorian, Edwardian, or Art Deco styles.

These lamps are typically manufactured from solid brass or cast brass components, sometimes featuring weighted iron bases for stability. Traditional methods involve sand casting, turning on a lathe, and hand-polishing or lacquering the metal surface.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit natural patination, minor surface wear, and heavy construction compared to lightweight modern reproductions. Examination of the wiring, screw types, and makers marks also helps determine the age and origin.

They add warmth and contrasting texture when paired with contemporary minimalist furniture or serve as cohesive accents in traditional schemes. Placing them on sideboards, desks, or bedside tables creates an intentional focal point.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners that strip the historic patina. If polishing is necessary, use a gentle, non-abrasive brass cleaner applied sparingly.
